What is DiscoverChemEngLIVE?
DiscoverChemEngLIVE is a free, hands-on challenge day for S2 students, designed to inspire them into chemical engineering or wider STEM careers. Developed by IChemE and All About Futures, and delivered in schools across The UK, it introduces students to chemical, biochemical, and process engineering through fast-paced, interactive activities.
S2 students work in teams to solve real-world challenges, explore sustainability, and discover how engineers transform everyday materials into essential products. The aim is to inspire curiosity and confidence while showing how engineering helps create a more sustainable world.
Who Can Take Part?
- S2 students, max 36 per event, in teams of six
- Students take part for the full day
- Events can include students from one or multiple schools
- Host schools must be state-funded secondary schools
Student Selection
Open to all S2 students, with particular encouragement for girls and students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Participants should be interested and engaged in STEM subjects such as chemistry, maths and engineering, able to work well in teams, and demonstrate positive behaviour, respect and engagement.
