The Ignite Scholarship is coming soon

Exciting news from TEAS Director and Head of Centre, Graeme Rough:

Together, Andrew McNab of The Gas Certification Company and I are planning an amazing STEM opportunity for young people in South Lanarkshire Council.

As we know, not enough young people are choosing STEM careers, and the industry that both Andy and I served apprenticeships in is suffering, like so many other sectors. Partly due to lack of awareness of the labour market among schools, but also the simple fact that some young people are not attaining the right exam grades to enter the industry.
It’s time to fix this.
In the next academic year we will be launching The Ignite Scholarship.
This fully funded programme will give young people in the senior phase of secondary school:
– Enhanced tuition and revision for N5 Maths and Physics
– Proper hands-on practical skills and experience linked to gas/renewables engineering
– Engagement with industry experts and employers
– Work experience opportunities
– Career and employability skills development
– A formal SCQF Level 7 award

Basically, our Ignite Scholars will live in the world of the gas/renewables engineering sector whilst still at school; gaining a true understanding of the vast opportunities this career choice offers them, whilst being fully supported to gain the grades required for entry.

This scholarship will create a pathway and a talent pipeline for employers to recruit the best and most informed young people in the area into the industry. Yet again, The Education Academy Scotland continues to work with the most forward-thinking, innovative and altruistic companies to make proper change and create incredible opportunities.

Thanks to Andy and the brilliant team at Gas Certification Company Limited – this is the start of something amazing.
