Empowering the next generation of innovators for a better future, quicker

Are you in or entering the senior phase of secondary school, at college or home-educated?  Are you currently studying National 5 or Higher Maths, English or Physics?

Are you considering, or would you consider, a career in the energy sector?

Would you like the opportunity to work with a global energy company and a world leader in wind energy, learning more about their career and study pathways and opportunities​?

Would you like:

  • fully funded educational support in National 5/Higher Maths/English/Physics
  • hands-on practical experiences and activities in digital technologies
  • site visits and field trips to Scottish Power HQ and renewable energy sites
  • support and coaching from inspirational leaders in the energy sector
  • the potential to enter into Scottish Power graduate apprenticeship programmes.

With the incredible generosity and support of Scottish Power, we are providing enhanced educational support for young people in Glasgow and The West to secure their National 5 and Higher Maths, English and Physics qualifications, with an added series of engagements with inspirational role models from Scottish Power.  This unique opportunity will equip young people with the qualifications, knowledge and skills to enter one of many carer pathways in the energy sector.  

Young people taking part in the Scottish Power Futures Scholarship can expect:

  • Attendance at in-person Weekly Lessons in N5/H Maths/English/Physics at The Education Academy Scotland in The Glasgow Academy, January to March 2026; Saturday mornings 09:00 to 12:00
  • Attendance at Grade Booster Days in N5/H Maths/English/Physics at The Education Academy Scotland in The Glasgow Academy, April/May 2026; Saturday mornings and Easter holiday weekdays 10:00 to 14:00
  • Unlimited online support via Google Classroom from our fully qualified teachers
  • A series of engagements and activities with a group of inspirational role models from Scottish Power's extensive and diverse group of skilled staff to build an understanding of the many career opportunities available
  • Site visits/tours and field trips with Scottish Power
  • Career mentoring and support with UCAS​

Application Information

By completing an application, you are accepting all of the following terms and conditions:

  1. Scholarships are awarded by a judging team and their decision is final
  2. Applicants must provide personal data which will be securely stored by TEAS and will be shared with Scottish Power
  3. Successful applicant data will be stored for up to 12 months after the scholarship is complete, applicants not chosen for the scholarship will have their data deleted immediately
  4. Applicants must provide the email address for a suitable staff member in their school/college (likely to be a teacher/lecturer) who will be asked to provide a reference on the suitability of the applicant for this programme; applicants must have the advance permission of this person to share their email address with us
  5. The parent/carer of the applicant will provide a supporting statement in the application
  6. Applications can not progress without a teacher reference and a supporting statement from the parent/carer so please inform them of the importance of providing this in a timely manner.
  7. Successful applicants will commit to attending all face-to-face classes (dates listed above) at The Education Academy Scotland, The Glasgow Academy
  8. Successful applicants will share their current and predicted working grades in Maths/English/Physics
  9. Successful applicants will provide their final SQA exam grades and permit their school/college to share this result with TEAS and Scottish Power on their behalf if no pupil response is made on exam results day
  10. Successful applicants will take part in short surveys to evaluate the impact of the scholarship
  11. Successful applicants consent to photography and its use to promote and celebrate the scholarship programme
  12. Applicants accept that completing the application process in no way guarantees their selection for the programme
